i tend to go a little lighter in pads if there is no thick grass beneath them. i actually like to pitch my bait softly on top of the pad and ease it over the edge into the hole and slowly hop it through back to the boat. usually quarter ounce or less, needs to be pegged so that weight doesn't slide off the pad without the bait. as far as plastics anything that will swim or flap on the way down, brush hog, chigger craw, and don't forget the old tube. finesse jig works well too, just a little more difficult to work back to boat through the stems.

hollow body frog for a different look, extremely slow works best for me. or if the pads aren't too thick run a spinnerbait through there.

also try different areas like if they were way back in there check the out side edge, you can throw whatever you want parallel to the edge. or vice versa if they were closer to outside go further back in there. what lake you fishing if you don't mind sharing?

All of the above. We have a few patches of pads down here on LBJ and I've had to try so many different things all in one day until I hit on what they want. It does seem like the hotter it gets the more they hit the jig because they settle to the bottom and don't hang around the edges or just underneath the pads. Early mornings the frogs hopping the pads and spinner baits on edges and in cuts works well. Good luck sir. It's a fun way to fish.

when they get goofy in the pads try a dark swim-jig to mimic bluegills, suggest fishing it on braid...good luck !

I like all stuff mentioned. Wake bait on pad edges and openings works good sometimes. I just like to see them hit it.

Perfect, could not say it better myself. It is what I do all the time and it works well.
