Going to make a 7 hour drive to fish OH Ivie next weekend. Heading in from Shreveport and am looking for any advice I can get. Never visited the lake and we are just going for fun, hopefully wont be too many tournaments. We are going to fish Thursday, friday, and saturday and I am looking for some ideas on safe passage through the lake and some pointers for what tackle and areas might be productive. We are staying at Concho Creek. Thanks in advance and I will post pictures when I get back of all Sharelunkers we contribute banana

Lake is pretty easy to run right now by staying in the channel.

I would recommend flipping trees in the 4-6 ft range and throwing square bills and spinnerbaits through the same areas.

There are still fish transitioning up and down for the spawn so you can get them coming and going.

Stay in the creek channel, and be very safe. People have lost their life on the lake in the last year, just be very careful. After fishing go by and see Jerry at Elm Creek; he will hook it up on the grill. As far as fishing; I'd follow what killer said, and if you stuggle call Tommy Hagler.

the only thing that i would add to this info is you might go by see jerry before fishing too and grab a little breakfast.. you will see how low the lake is when your at concho park.. that part of the lake looks really sad..

Thanks for the input, I tried to stay at Elm Creek put they had nothing available for the saturday night. Looks like we will be spending most of our time there anyway. How long of a haul is it from Concho to Elm to launch the boat? And more importantly, how are the biscuits and gravy?

Is about 15 miles on land
Not too sure by water because I rarely head upthat far north

There are more than enough places tofish on the south end without going much further north than boot hill

I'm heading up tomorrow and will be there till late Saturday. I'll let you know if we do any good and what's working. I do like the ideas that Fish Killer gave, as two of them are my most favorite ways to fish!

I have a 20 foot bass boat and was able to launch it at Concho easter weekend. It will not be long untill it is not usable, the water in front of the ramp was 5'.

We normally camp out at Kennedy park and it is really nice. Keep an eye out on the weather! I was thinking about heading down there this weekend but the weather channel is calling for chance of severe storms and windy with gusts up to 35 mph all weekend.

it has been pretty tough man, and the lake is so low it HURTS to look at. really be careful there are some big hardwoods that you really gotta watch for.

Was out last week stay at cp got 10.5 and could see the ramp. Run down to main lake each day just stay in river. good people there at each place. fish trees on the river by sand cuts.
