Packer and I used this bait and shad every time we fished for cats from april-june, his homemade bait outfished shad at least 3:1 during the spawn. Got a limit or close to it every time we went out using his bait.

My dad had a recipe that he taught me when I was little, and I tweaked it a little last spring when we were catching channel cats on Hubbard. We were cathing 10-15 a piece fish fresh caught shad, when we got tired of having to catch shad before we fished, I brought some along and we both limited. We thought it was just a good day, but it proved strong trip after trip.

is it a dip bait or stink bait?

It's a stink bait. I used to use hot dogs in it, but I switched to chicken gizzards because they last a lot longer. When all the gizzards are gone, you can use it as a dip bait. Drives the channels nuts! I've also caught a few carp and lots of drum on it.

Get'cha some while it's hot!

Remember folks, now that it's getting warmer outside, be sure to remove the lid from the bait for a minute or two a day to release the excess gas. If you don't, the lid will warp, and it WILL leak.

what size are we talking about? Oz or milk gallon size? Soda can?

This will happen! I just went to check my two catfish baits in jars and sure enough they were leaking cause I hadn't opened them in months

Order by PM and MCC likes to use a big comal peggable bobber, and peg 4-5 small split shot under the cork, and set it about 3' deep. Use whatever hook u want. The hook has to have no weight making it sink and that setup works because the catfish are coming in shallow to spawn btw

Do you roll it into a ball? Does it stick on the hook well?
