I've tried a few set ups with micro guides and I don't like them. I can't tell any difference in line control or casting improvements. If there is any, it's not enough for me to notice.

The negatives are they're a pain to run line through and they catch my leader knot much worse than regular guides. Personally I think my experiment with them is over. Am I missing something?

My rods are 50/50 micro and regular guides. I haven't really noticed any downsides to the micro guides, but I haven't noticed any benefits really either.

I do think that they look a little sleeker as rods get thinner

They are here to stay. I believe they cast further and the other benefit is that they eyeletes don't get all beatup in the rod lockers.

and what is this freezing weather of which you speak? noidea

I really like how they make a rod feel a lot lighter and more balanced.

Casting distance, etc. I've not felt it make one bit of difference except on heavier lures on a spinning rod.

My son and I build our own custom rods.
We use the magnum micro guides witch are not availble in production rods.
We experimented with different style of guides and wraps.
I will not use the production micro style guides.
I like to 65 lbs braid and a floro leader.
The rod we build are unconventional, the cast conciderablely farther than other standard rods.

One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

The only way I could evaluate casting distance is having identical blanks, identical weight, identical reel, and identical wind. So not having that I really can't say they cast better. Certianly not so much better that it's obviously longer or more accurate.

It might be just me, but I noticed better distance when flipping/pitching. Not really casting.

I agree with this. I only use them for pitching baits.

I have one rod with micro guides. I have no see the plus. I can see the plus of recoil guides though.

I think they have there time and place.
flippin and pitching= no
leaders= no
I do believe they cast further and are more sensitive. I build with size 4, 4.5 &5's, I think 3s are too small. I have tested them and have them on everything but my flipping sticks. They are here to stay.

BTW they make recoils in micros!
