Thanks for all the congrats from everyone! I hope it at least cheered up or hyped up a few people about fishing.

Hopefully it doesnt cost anyone too much.

However, I do build custom rods and jigs for those interested... haha.

I was waiting for this question to come up.

I sat down for a second and contemplated that. I had way more questions than answers at the time. Is there still a certified scale out there? I havnt been to that little shop in probably 5 years and it has changed hands / been closed off and on. Even if so, is that shop open on a Thursday? That fish was right at 13... was it going to make it (it could go either way), or would I be loading the boat, taking it up there, taking it in and out of a bag, etc. Would the fish survive until TPWD got there?

In the situation I even had to think the crazy thought of... is there ANOTHER fish like this around the corner to make this an even more unbelievable day if I keep fishing? Which I did find two more good fish. Anyone's guess at how big they could have been.

I already turned one in from out there in 06, and that would be a TON of money for TPWD to come to AH and its not likely they would get any eggs from her this year. I thought about telling them just to keep her in Athens for good.

Even today I'm not sure what the best decision was. I dont regret putting her back, but I dont think I would have regretting turning her in either (assuming she did cross the 13 mark.)

Maybe next time... if there is one.

Do you guide at this lake? I am seriously interested in hiring you for me 2 friends and then have 2 trail boats.

This is an amazing feat and I would like to get a shot at something close to this!

O! do`nt anyone doubt that the spots have taken over. You will catch them anywhere on the lake. Curtis the store does have a certified scales now.
