i am the expert on that lake i have caught tons of good cats from there, large channels 30lb flatties and 3.5lb crappie, when you goin out? oh and bring a rod holder i lost a good rod a while back cause of a fish I'm not sure when exactly I'm headed out. Gonna depend on the weather and such. As far as rod holders go I've got a whole fleet of them lol. Had what I can only assume to be Moby Dick with whiskers yank one of my brand new rods in before I could react, a few years back. Even took in some weeds the reel hung up on, on the way in. I will never lay my rods on the bank again.

Went out there this past Sat. & Sunday to test some motors my son and I have been working on. There were a lot of people swimming and partying, and this "thug "that was all tatted up gave us a push off from the bank so I wouldn't have to get wet. So don't judge a book by its cover. Be smart and treat people right and I have never had a issue on this lake .Lake is full of small channel cats now should get real good in a year or two

The times I have been out to Marine Creek it seems like there is always a few "rough looking" people in "rough looking" vehicles at the 820 ramp. They play kids soccer and baseball pretty close by. Along with the 24/7 patrolled TCC NW right across the way I don't think it woukd be too dangerous. From what I have heard you can fish from the TCC side during the day as long as you clean up your mess and don't hqve any alcohol on your person. There is a ramp that backs up to a neighborhood on the NW side. I have heard that side is okay.

I'll do that. It will probably be short notice when I do though. As far as the magic bait goes, I used to use that before I switched to Secret 7. I had, had some decent luck with it but I've always done better with the Secret 7. I don't really know what the difference is as they both smell pretty similar. I actually have some Magic Bait brand Premo Original Super Sticky dip bait left over from last year.
I'll bring them both plus my new home made dip bait and fish them all side by side to see which one works best for me out there.
As for the cut bait, have you ever tried cut bluegill out there? Its a bit easier for me to get my hands on than shad (although I always throw a cast net when I'm fishing to try and get my hands on a few) but I always seem to come up with threadfins. I get like one gizzard for every 10-15 threadfin that I get. =/ I hear about people netting gizzards from the bank and in creeks all the time so I don't really know what I'm doing wrong. Perhaps I'm just unlucky?

Don't pass up those threadfins, if that's all your netting then that's what the fish are feeding on in that area. Cut the back half off and put a couple on a hook. Got a 58# out of Lewisville a couple of weeks back on them.

Oh believe you me Tom, I don't throw em back, lol. They just don't seem to work as well for me as the gizzards. I don't know if its just my bad luck, or if its a scent issue. I just have no idea. I'm far from an expert, but I do know that when I get a load of threadfins I always end up bringin most of them home to freeze. They ended up being the chief ingredient in my home made dip bait because I had so many of them left over. Its them, blue gill, chicken livers and old cheese, mixed with flour and veggie oil. About a 50/50 mix of rotten and fresh fish. I don't know how well its gonna work but the smell makes me gag uncontrollably. LMAO So it should be able to attract some channels. At least I hope it does. *edit* Its bad enough my wife won't allow me to keep it in the garage. ^^; It smells through the bucket like MAD.

My problem with it is the excessive amount of gang activity, theft, muggings, and general hood rattery. When was there a mugging Aaron? That's something we all need to be aware of for sure. I came across this thread last year when I first joined the forum. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/5047878/1Could be made up I suppose, but I doubt it. And I got this response to an thread I was in months ago. Well we went out to marine creek lake last night. First time we took out little boat out, and since just had a trolling motor, we stayed close and 15 minutes after we got there, about 30 thugs showed up to swim and hang out, blaring rap music, so we ended up leaving after about half an hour, so I never got on the fish. Marine Creek Lake has that reputation. Fishermen have been mugged there. May I suggest a safer lake about 45 minutes from you? Lake Weatherford has a good population of sunfish. The bluegill are large enough to be good eating size. No redear, though. Another option is the early morning. Most of the drunks should be asleep by then. However, I have read of at least one mugging on Marine Creek in the morning hours. Hearsay sure. But I chose to stay away because of a couple stories.
