Man Roberts was a tuff lake this week. 150 teams, 1-59 were only limits, zeros started at 89th place with some really good sticks in the mix. I have never seen a lake that was as off like Roberts this week.

I dont know if its the weather, water, or what.

Any thoughts cause I'm pretty perplexed?

I think that Ray Roberts is one lake where "time on water" is a MUST if you want to go compete with 5 good fish. Sure you can go out on a good day and luck into 5 fish but if you want to compete with 5 quality fish, you had better know what spots they hold in. On the other hand, Ray Roberts can be one of the Harshest Lakes around to people who roll up on "Good Looking" water and put the trolling motor down because you think that "There has got to be fish here". There is "Good Looking" water all over that lake and you can spend Hours in areas that look great but don't produce. I'll leave you with this. There are "Sweet spots" on that lake that produce huge fish. I've zeroed on that lake more times than I've caught fish but I've had some "outstanding days" there also.

I have been fishing this lake for 5 years or so and have spent a lot of time in the boat with some really good sticks on this lake and the one thing about this lake that is amazing when compared to what I've experienced at other lakes is how fish you were hammering can just disappear with no warning....i've talked to 2 different teams that fished TTT and they both said they were shocked and dumbfounded at what happened to the fish.

I personally witnessed that that is known as Roberts Saturday. She threw me a curve ball I could not hit Saturday. The thing I dont get is how for 2 weeks, you have 3 spots holding fish. 2 of them had been spitting out 20+ lbs. sacks. And even knowing they were there Friday. Then to roll in Saturday and only boat 5 fish all day, and struggle for those bites?????
We ended up throwing back 3 fish for about 8 lbs. at 3:30 and went to the ramp.

I still scratch my head at Saturday. This is a tuff pill to swallow, cause I still have no answer to how or why we got smoked like that on Saturday.

The fish reacted to the pressure. They got hammered Friday!!! Our spot litterally shut down.... and we have caught a 20+ pound limit in there every time we have fished it. We decided to make an adjustment on some stuff that we knew was unpressured and it payed off. I have never seen so many boats on that lake and the fish can feel it. All the guys that ran up the creeks fished water that was beat up... no matter where you fished.

Ray Roberts is in full swing and its scary to think it can get better then what it is.... but it will. That June bass champs might take 40 pounds if the fish go to there typical post spawn patterns. Im pumped about the lake fishing so well....

You just never know what kind of day you will have on that lake. I took my son last Saturday and we had a blast, caught about 10 fish all together with a few good ones mixed in. Sorry about the size of the pics, couldn't figure out how to make smaller.

That top pic is one of my favorite spots to fish for spawning bass. Nice fish!

We pre-fished a bit on Friday, ran out of colors so went to Cabellas for more colors, that didn't help Sat either. I agree about the water looks great but not holding any fish. That was our mistake, we spent to much time on good looking water.

Thats kindof what I meant about tuff same as everyone else, we really had a pretty good line on the fish and they were all!! gone. Thanks for the input, it is a hard pill to swallow when we spent many many days out there in the last month on good fish and couldnt turn the key Sat.

Really congrats to the teams that found them even if some of it was a little luck!!

Now any pointers for Livingston never even seen that water, [censored]!!

Thats the point of pressure. That was last Saturday. I could show you some pics from last Sunday of some bigger than that. But again, that was last weekend. But Barrett and them are right. Friday and Saturday, the lake looked like Fork with all the boats on it. 3 tournaments on 1 day.
It is what it is, but I will figure this lake some time! lol!

We caught them pretty good Thursday and Friday, but they sure got tough on Saturday.
