Is anyone doing any bass fishing lately ?
Have not seen any chat about it lately.
Maybe because everyone has the poor summer results that I seem to have on the lake. I can do OK in Spring ,fall, and winter-but when it gets HOT
I just can't catch any (maybe one, usally none like this morn.)Where is Elk,BassAm,and some of the other regulars?

ELK is right here big dog! Get to the lake early and fish shallow. When the sun comes up either get off the lake or fish deep 10-20ft and dodge the jetters, skiers, and more and more recently, the bottom dredgers that don't know how to navigate. Typical summer patterns, run and gun to every peice of deep structure you know until you find them.
Right now is extremely tough, if you catch a few you are doing better than most. Good luck!!!!

The recent rains have helped the fishing tremendously. Catfishing and white bass fishing has been outstanding the past few days. Lot's of black bass fishermen on the lake but I did not get a report on catches. The surface temp. has dropped a little with the rain so I would think the black bass fishing has picked up also.

I went last Thursday from about 6:30 - 9:00 & did not do much good in my regular spots. I was suprised to see the Scott's Ridge ramp closed & it looks like they are doing some maintenance to the parking lot. I did catch one that went 2.5# on the point where the light house is on the rocks about 8:45 that evening. Caught it on a shad colored crank-bait in about 8-10 foot of water. It was the day the rain quit last week & it was weird not seeing anyone else out.

I have been working a lot & have not been able to get out much. However, I have also been visiting another forum that is more local to where we are since this one caters to more of the Dallas Metroplex area.

9300 more grass suckers on the way. Just approved by TPWD . Should be stocked by mid to late August.

If we are lucky, all the 8-14 lb bass will eat them up and grow to 20 lbs by spring:)

All that is going to do is draw back all the guys that shoot carp with bows and you will see them floating every where you look just like last time.

Small to medium sized channel cats are still biting over baited holes early in the morning. White bass are great when you can locate them. I located them around the old Lake Betty area just south of the 1097 bridge a few days ago. We caught several under-sized hybrids also. I read a report that claimed keeper hybrids are being caught on the flats, but I have not caught any nor have I personally seen any caught. I did see a fellow with a fly rod having a great time catching bream in the old Lake Palau area next to Lochness Marina.

I received a report from Conroe today. Black bass fishing is slow while white bass and catfishing is outstanding. Stow-Away Marina will have their weekly bass tournament tomorrow so I will call them and see what the results were. The lake is still getting some spotted rain up until today. However, it is going to take several "gully washers" to fill it up.

I did not speak with Stow-Away Marina today, but I will tomorrow since I am going there. I will post a full fishing report for Lake Conroe on Tuesday.

Tks Jim, I did not fish this trip but I did not notice anyone talking about good catches of anything. I did drive around the lake in my van and I did notice the hydrilla coming back in several areas. It is not bad at this time, but I know once it gets a good foothold, it spreads like wildfire.

I did see where a guide managed a limit on small channel cats around 14inches each.
