I dont miss many of my hookups... I use a gamagatzu 4/0 extra wide gap on a 5 inch senko.. but I will say at times the fish will pick it up and let it go before you can set the hook....

A lot of the bites are very subtle and some will just pick it up and swim off with it. Good rod, fast reel and good line will help hook-up numbers.

If they pick it up and drop it, I figure they were small ones anyway. The good ones will hold on. I always check em before I swing. They may tap it a few times before they commit. But very few larger fish won't just eat it and swim away.

If the fish are funky, like they are on Sam right now, go down to a 4 inch size. Been catching more on it than the 5 inch the past 2 weeks. Not just small ones. Had 2 over 7lbs on the 4 inch when I could hardly buy a bite on the 5.

I fish my Senkos wacky style with an O-ring and a 1/0 Gamakatsu finesse hook w/weedguard. Take my pliers and offset the point to the side so that it is not laying flat and in line with the shank. That way, when you set the hook, it turns in their mouth, resulting in roof of the mouth catch the majority of the time with very few missed fish. Since this was passed along to me, my hookups have increased dramatically. Good luck.

There are allot of bream in shallow water right now also.

They will hit a senko, but not be there for the hook set.

Tiki Stiks are as good as night crawlers. Bass eat them for a meal. The only problem is if you let them have it too long you'll gut hook them.
