My father, A friend and I went to Weatherford Lake this morning. I knew it couldn't be to good of an outing as I forgot the plug right off. Luckily we didn't untrailer the boat before I remembered. Then we go all the way(like its really that far)to the other end of the lake and there are good sized fish hitting the top of the water every where and we cannot seem to find what they want. We tried every top water we had between us and the we decided to use some divers we fished about 3 feet deep to no evail. I was told this lake was doing well and we were almost gauranteed to catch fish. We spent several hours out on that lake this morning and all we had to show for it was..............................RELAXATION. It sure felt good to just get away and we may not have caught any fish but we sure enjoyed our new sport of FISH WATCHING wink

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU WHO GET TO GET OUT AND DO SOME FISHING TOMORROW

Several years ago I lived in Weatherford and got to fish that little lake pretty regular. I had some pretty good days out there and some pretty bad smile .

used to have some 100 fish days out there. try a clear body sassy shad 3", with red jig head. work them beside the docks.

I do not have a boat any more, but when I did, Weaterford was a favorite of mine. I would drive there while most fisherman from Fort Worth were headed to Ray Bob, that was twelve years ago, I understand the lake lost much of the grass to carp put in there to control it.
My understanding now is they did more than control it, they devoured it, taking most of the cover fish in that lake had. One thing that always worked for me then, purple worms with white tails shooting the docks in the middle of the day. Hope that helps you.

I can't believe that there are fish in that lake. My uncle bought a place out there and the 4th of July was crazy. Fireworks being shot off almost every dock 'til wee hours of the morning and right into the water.

I guess fish like gunpowder??

Hey bro, the fireworks out there are no different than the ones at Grapevine, all the debris from that went right into the water. I think weatherford has some potential, we have just got to get out there and fish it hard. There are a couple of things worth checkin out, you know what Im talkin about!!
