I was given an old Allstar rod, that was missing two eyelets, for free. So, being the jew that I am (not really), I went to Academy and browsed for a replacement. Allstar had a 7' "Carolina Riggin" rod on sale for 50$. I plan to put a new Revo I bought on the rod, and wanted to use this set-up for flipping and pitching. I think its either a MH or H, and I'm not sure about the action. Essentially, I'm asking if it really matters that it's a "Carolina Riggin" rod, or will it still perform well for pitchin & Texas rigging?

It should work fine as long as it has a good backbone and the sensitivity to feel those subtle bites

Wait a minute, your saying someone gave you a broke rod and you returned it to academy for store credit? Well, did you? Your post was a little unclear.

Yes? The rod was missing two eyelet spots. He had bought many other poles and I didn't have any so he let me have it and said that it would fish just fine. I originally went to academy to see if I could just pay to have the eyelets replaced and they told me I could just get a replacement rod for comparable price.
Sorry for upsetting the angling community?

I'll just comment on the rod. I own same model All Star CCR. Found it good for Flip'in, Swimbait, Ala. Rig. May get a little heavy for Pitch'in all day.
