Just did the 4 day trip on the Devils river with River Run Guide Service/Shane Davies. I can say two things, Shane is a great guide and that is a spectacular place. This river feeds lake Amisdad, down on the border. It is very remote and in the desolet chiwawan(sp?) desert. We covered a lot of distance and got to a section of the river that was a series of huge pools seperated by water falls. It was emerald clear water and lots of fish. Some large mouth but mostly small mouth. At a few points there were schools of fish swiming all around and under us in the clearest water like an aqarium. One afternoon I caught seven 19 inch small mouth. We camped along the way and had a full blown hurricane on Tuesday night. Other than a few wet spots we stayed comfortable. Shane showed us the way and how to rig for specific situations. He fed us great meals and we (3 of us) just fished hard and ate good. Some of our drinking water came from springs pouring from the rocks. The fishing was really good and I now know the small mouth is the best fighting/sporting warm water game fish. Those fish are really action packed. There was no question when one hit you. It was a great trip that I would do again. If interested contact guide Shane Davies at 214-418-9786.
