Well, Thanksgiving is over fishing continues. Many, many fish are being caught and the crappie have once again begun to hit the jiggin spoons and Chuck-n-spins once again on a more consistent basis. Fishing has been tough on the blue-bird (high-pressure) days. I've been starting out our day fishing shallow and then hitting the deeper points and humps through-out the lake and finishing up shallow again. The best bite is still coming between 10am. and 4:00pm. In the shallow water, we're throwing white Lockhart spinnerbaits and chartreuse Bandit crankbaits. Out on the humps, we're throwing jiggin' spoons, Chuck-n-spins, and Carolina-rigged watermelon seed flukes. Colors on the 'spoons & 'spins have not been too specific on colors. The C-rig best bite has been fishing it very, very slowly. When we begin fishing the deeper water we have caught our fish in 22 to 34 feet of water. I realize that is a very wide range of water but blue-bird and colder days have caused me to go deeper in some areas that we've been fishing. On Saturday, after nearly 5 inches of rain and 3 floodgates opened I fished with repeat customers Ted Nguyen & Darrin England, we caught 2. Thats right 2! It almost qualified for my 7th day in 8 years of guiding that we have not caught a fish. Sunday, I fished with Van Qualls and we caught 11, as you can see Sunday was a little better than Satuday. Tuesday, I did a magazine article and fishing was not any better than it was on Sunday except for the size of fish that we caught (10). Thursday, I fished with Herb Frye & his son, the gates had closed on Wednesday and I really thought that fishing would be much better and it even started off that way, by putting a nice healthy 4 pounder in the boat, we ended up with a total of 9. For all of you who fished with me over this past week and are mentioned in this report, Thank You and I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!
