Any tips on how the bite is on Leon since it filled up? Taking the wife crappie fishing in the morning so any reports would help.

Well doesnt seem like anyones going to help me but I can tell you a friend of mine that lives on the lake says she is catching them right up against the banks. Shes been catching them with minnows so you might consider that. I hope this helps you out

La mancha is horrible! Solid dink fest. I fished it Tuesday and Wednesday and caught 5 keepers both both days combined. The were dang sure biting though because I caught 50 plus 8inch to 9.75inch both days. So the keeper to throw back ratio is about 20 to 1.....literally! Minnows mos def aren't the bait to use at mancha right now. Unless you feeding the dinks and putting on a minnow every 3 to five minutes. From what I saw I was catching about 5 to 1 versus all 4 people that were using minnows. Did catch a couple really nice ones but unless things have changed in the past 2 days, which I hope they have don't plan on bringing home a mess of them. They were biting every color or jig I put on my hook as well and suspended at all different depths from 5ft to 1ft off bottom.

That is good to hear you got on some keepers, at Leon Lake. Did you catch them up in the river? How deep were they and what color jig were they hitting?

No I was at La Mancha around the corner of the dam. I was using mostly minnows at about 15 feet, but did have some luck like a sparkily silver jig( lol i dont know what its called) from either 15 feet or dropping it all the way down onto the brush piles and raising it about a foot above it.

Glad you got some good keepers at La Mancha. It had slowed way down after the rain raised the lake level.
