Lake Fork
Water Temperature: 63
Water Clarity: 2-3
If youve not been on the water lately youve missed a very fun time! Fishing on Fork is absolutely great. We are catching mixed bags of fish all day long. With the best bite coming between 10am. and 3pm. However, dress warm and keep an extra pair of clothing with you either in the vehicle or boat just in case that slip over the side of the boat occurs. Lake Fork is in the best shape that Ive seen it in quite some time. On the main lake its clear to 3 feet but on both the North ends of the lake it is stained for Fork. The shallow bite has been slow using white Lockhart spinnerbaits and chrome/blue Rattletraps. I cant explain what is happening with the water temperature though, the lake is warmer on the main lake than it is in the creeks and larger coves. I guess its because of all the rain we have had recently, being a cold rain. Fishing is better where you find the warmer water temps, naturally. Last Friday, I had an instructional bass and crappie trip with repeat customer Sheldon Vik & his son Jeremy, we caught 10 bass and a lot of crappie and bar fish. Then on Wednesday, I fished with Bob Pritchett and we caught 33 bass. Now for several weeks Ive been stating that all we needed was for the air temperatures to drop and it would bunch our fish up and on Wednesday it did, as you can tell. Our best bite came on Chuck-n-spins and jiggin spoons, we fished them in, on main lake, secondary points and on the humps. Fishing the deep side of the humps as they drop-off into deeper water, keeping the boat in 20 to 26 feet. Around noon the fish started moving up on top of the humps, which was telling me that they were feeding. When fishing deeper water using these Chuck-n-spins and jiggin spoons make sure to give the bass a chance before leaving that spot. What youre looking for is bar fish and the occasional crappie. These fish will keep you occupied for some time while waiting for the bass to move in and begin feeding on them. For all of you who fished with me over this past week and are mentioned in this report, Thank You and I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!
