Just wondering. I am going to be in the piney woods area for about a week in early June and wondering any tips for that area and time.

Yes. Topwater for the first 30 minutes of perceptible light. Throw anything you want, but if it's not a Yellow Magic, you're doing it wrong! Then weightless plastics texas or wacky-rigged blind casting and jigs on wood in the same areas and a little deeper out to about 10'. Then about 9am, bounce out deep and stay the rest of the day. By deep, I mean 20-30 feet. Seems like most of the better stuff is 20-25. Throwing DD cranks, C-rigs, football jigs, spoons and big swimbaits. Lots of guys dropshot then too, but that's not my cup of tea. Those are very general guidelines. May/Jun/Jul is my favorite period on Fork.
p.s. - if you just want to catch fish, mostly 1-3 pounds, dropshot under any of the many bridges on the lake. There are also some giants that live under those bridges, but they eat crappie and yellow bass any time they want.

Well said fouzman. I am printing out that pattern and taping it on my console. Very well organized. That kind of post is why I love this forum.

You could always drown a blue gill.....lol Ain't one thing wrong with drownin' a bluegill next to a cool, shady bridge piling on a hot summer's day...if a man or woman was so inclined. Heck, just get out there and feesh!

Great so any other lakes in that area? I might be going to Palestine. Does anyone know about that place?

Where are you staying? I would hit Caddo if you had a chance, even if you get skunked its worth taking in. Also try Lake O The Pines and Tyler... Great so any other lakes in that area? I might be going to Palestine. Does anyone know about that place?

The main pattern I encounter at Fork is:
Fish-shower-drink-sleep-fish.
However this pattern is good 12 months a year, not just June.

I had the pleasure of visiting with Kelly Jordon last fall and asked him to give me one tip for fishing Fork and he said "Keep your lure in '23 as much as possible."
