My nephews from Illinois are in town until Saturday. They came down a couple of summers ago but I was unable to get them onto anything but turtles and bullhead, so I really wanted to get them some carp and/or buffalo today. We went to Scott's Landing as that seemed as sure a bet as anything else short of Joe Pool at this time of year. It was a gorgeous day and I actually was able to drag my mother out there with Dad and it turned into a nice family outing. The fish were on, there was no way to keep six rods out as I am the only one that rebaits rods and ties rigs, unhooks fish, etc. We ended up fishing 4 rods most of the day but it didn't matter. Lots of buffs were caught along with a couple of nice channels (one of them 5lb. 12oz.) along with a few more dink kitties. Two carp were hooked but both were lost at the bank to hook pulls, I guess I didn't coach them well enough on the fine art of carp landing lol. Max (age 11) getting some help from Dad fighting the first carp. This seemed like a very nice fish, it gave him a ride, but alas, the hook pulled before we saw it. Arik (age 12) with his first buffalo ever at 11 lbs. Max with his first buffalo, 7lb. 5oz. Arik and Max caught a double of 11 and 13lb. buffs. Sorry about all of the thumb shots lol, it's impossible to see my phone out there.

I already knew this going in, but Arik is one heck of an angler. He absolutely loves fishing and goes with his other grandpa a lot. Dad decided to let him try casting one of his baitcasters for bass, and not only did he pick it up quickly, but had a beautiful chunk in no time. 4lb. bass All in all, a great time and it felt good to finally get them on something worthwhile. We will be hitting someplace up again on Friday, not sure where yet but we have some ideas. Now that they've got buffs, it's time to try to get them into some BIG ones.

Nice! I prebaited the spot Saturday and fish it Sunday so I'm sure they were eager to get a 3rd meal.
I'm glad those boys got to catch some fish.

It just don't get any better than that! That is what fishing is all about plane and simple. Memories made for a lifetime.

Yeah Ryan, Josef has been fishing it this week too, so I think there has been a steady stream of bait going in for many days, thanks guys! Josef actually pulled in to fish just as we were leaving lol.

Very cool
I tend to over think fishing. Please help me. When I am over complicating something please kick me in the face. Hard.

Great work Boys. Some serious angling there! Nothing beats fishing with family, although Ben's 38-10 would be a close 2nd.
