I heard about this place from a few people around town and since its pretty close to me (about 13miles) I figured this would be me next lake to try out. I tried searching the forums for it but didn't really find what I was looking for.

My questions are how much experience do you guys have with this lake? I've heard its pretty decent for channel cats and crappie. Is this true? Is bank access easy-ish to come by? Also what about other species of catfish? I haven't had myself a flatty trip this year cause I'm still trying to find a place that I can feel safe staying at overnight. Would it be a waste of time trying to target anything other than channels? Last but not least what baits do you use? I normally fish with Secret 7 but I'm running low, so I was thinking I'd take some of my new home made dip bait and some livers?

Thanks in advance for any advice ya'll might have. fish

Keep your eyes peeled, and your finger on the trigger. That lake gets very sketchy. Especially at night.

Fish no good to eat from there unless you like the taste of jet fuel.

I do not, in fact, like the taste of jet fuel. barf

Whats wrong with the water that the fish are so bad? The pictures I saw on google, the water looked pretty clean. Is there a consumption advisory on that reservoir? If this is true I'd probably just go up there for some CPR and wait another couple of weeks for the local neighborhood ponds to start being stocked before I start keeping fish for the freezer.

I just checked the TPWD website for Marine Creek Res and there are no consumption advisories or water quality issues reported, so I'm still confused. Whats the problem with this lake?

*Edit* Also saw on the TPWD website that channel catfish are not overly abundant, but flathead catfish are present. So this both bummed me out a bit and excited me at the same time. Odd feeling there. lol atleast I know now that flatties ARE there.

My problem with it is the excessive amount of gang activity, theft, muggings, and general hood rattery.

I see. I grew up in a pretty rough area myself so this doesn't bother me that much, although I probably wouldn't take my wife with me. I can generally handle these types on my own.. and the ones I can't my 38 can. ^_-

No worries. =) Perhaps its time for you to hit the water and unwind?

When was there a mugging Aaron? That's something we all need to be aware of for sure.
