I would put in at the 360 bridge. Its mid-lake and a good place to start. I also like the grass down by Emma Long Park, or up by the Hula Hut. Throw a big swimbait or a c-rig. I usually have better luck fishing the inside edges of the grass, less pressure. Good luck out there, it can be a tough lake.

Grass is where its at, past Emma Long. Most throw senkos but I'm partial to jigs.

Between the full moons, its been a dink fest. But the upcoming phase might bring in a new wave of big'uns. Be prepared for rock and rollin' cause the wakers are out in force starting at sunrise and will get kinda hairy at times. Get your sight fishing in early before the wakes churn some shorelines into chocolate.

Good luck. Austin can be a bitch sometimes.

welcome

There is a recent episode of Fishing Texas where they fished Lake Austin I think. Look on YouTube. It looked like a great lake. Good luck and welcome to the TFF!

They are always out. I would not let that keep me off the lake. You never know at that lake; the next bite might be a sally.

There will be less boat traffic if you launch at Quinlan and fish up towards the Mansfield dam. The water is cooler up there as well. Good luck!

Friday is Good Friday. No school, and allot of businesses will be closed. Wake Austin should be crowded.

If you go, I would not attempt to launch or load by yourself. The wakes will destroy your boat if you leave it tied to a dock, since it will take you a while to get your trailer in the water due to the long line to put in at the ramp. There is a small place left of the 360 ramp, but it's usually not available

yea if you will go on friday you will learn the term "wake austin" its a great place to fish but its not really a lake more of a river. almost the whole thing is 200 yards wide and doesnt take too many boats to make it crazy out there.

great tips on launching above. I have seen plenty of boats that were in need of fiberglass repair just from that.

Just realize it is an urban lake.

The best rockin' and rollin' is when the initial big wakes from the boat that just passed you at less than 20ft hit you and then is followed by the reverbs off the bulkheads from the previous boats, followed by the reverbs from the other shore.

From sunup to sundown.

Head on a swivel.

It sounds bad and can be at times but ....
You can still catch 'em while taking water over the bow. clap

Yes. Probably. Fish early and late if you can. Sadly, the boat traffic's nowhere near being half as bad as it's going to become throughout the next month and summer...
