Anyone in Waco having any luck catching catfish on the lake or bosque river? I've been skunked 3 out if the last 5 days.

My brother has been fishing in the Bosque a lot lately with set lines, he is not doing very well either.

Maybe they are just avoiding me. Im on the south bosque right now and haven't got anything yet. I went to Eichelberger yesterday, the lake on Saturday and south bosque again last Friday. All goose eggs. I've been using nightcrawlers and blood dough bait on a slip sinker rig. Any tips?

Fresh caught shad seems to be the best bait right bow. Or try a punch bait like CJ's Monster Bait or Sureshot.

Yeah i would say just do away completely with that dough bait. You might catch a few, but there is way better bait out there. Good advice from Frey. I'd use live/cut perch, shad, or CJ's punch bait. If you dont catch anything on those 3 things, there aint no fish there. Try another spot.

Im about to run up to wal Mart now and see about that punch bait. I really don't have a means to catch myself any shad and I've only seen frozen ones so far in the bait shops. I've tried catching perch and no luck that route either. Thanks for the tips!

Just picked up some CJ's Monster Bait and Shad, hope tomorrow goes well.

Those are two of the best punch baits you can get at your local store.

If you fish a lot, it would be to your benefit to try and invest in a cast net so you can get shad. You can get a 5' radius net at Academy for around $30. Look on youtube to learn how to throw.

Will do! Im going to try the CJ's stuff in the morning if the weather let's me.

I tried some Big Marvs last eve. and got skunked on the South Bosque up by the low water crossing. Might try some Sure Shot and some homemade cheese bait later this weekend. I have a cast net if you can get the word on where the shad are hanging out. I'll split'em with ya.
