I enjoy fishing with trot lines sometimes but don't call me a trot liner,
I enjoy fishing with jugs occasionally but I'm not a jug liner, I enjoy fishing with rod and reel but don't put me in that exclusive club either.
All are true but none exclusively......I guess the only name that truly fits me is "catfisherman" and I'm proud of it!

Guess I'll be bouncing all over this forum before it's over with.
Why don't we have a North and South division also while we are splitting it up.... just saying..

Must have missed the nice little donnybrook you boys had going on. Anyone draw blood? No? Good! Now go out and fish.

They are testing fish from Texas lakes. Two blue cats, same age. One fish weighs 62lbs, the other weighs 8lbs. I think both fish are 14 years old. Most likely a difference in gene. The eastern states fish are much more protected than Texas lakes as far as bag limits and length limits. Thus the reason for larger fish - they get to grow over a longer period of time. thumb

Most other states you can bowfish catfish..Texas you may not. That eliminates a lot of threat.

This is the kind of stuff that caused me to stop posting on here several months ago!I used to get on here to show off my catch & talk about running lines, both jugs & trotlines, I got sick of being in constant controvercy about it, so I opted to stop posting or even trying to help others, I figgered whats the point? I fish because I enjoy eating fresh fish & as long as they are of legal sizes, I will keep them, both big or not so big! I was the one that bought the fishing license, boat registration, gas & oil for the motor, so I consider it none of anyone else's business if I catch & release or sit at home & do nothing!Mother nature provided the fish I caught & she'll provide more until a man's stupidity causes there to be no more fish! This is my 1st & last post or comment on the subject,so ya'll get after it & raise 'ole billy hell!@

From a catfisher and bowfisher... bowfishing has little effect on catfish. You could be much more productive ont he cats with some worms and stinkbait in a night than with a bow. In the year while bowfishing cats in texas was legal We never shot more than a handful in a night, the most was 7... rod and reeling I bet we could have put a much bigger hurting on them.

One can always go to the bass section and talk about succulent baby bass fish fry's just to scratch the itch, right?
