I spent all day Friday at Canyon Lake, trying everything I knew for catching bass. The only bites I got where upriver of Crane's Mill, on a chunk-rock bank that fell off into 25 ft water, and on a small shoreline that had grass which had gone underwater from recent rains. And, the only baits that worked were jig/craw and CR craw. I caught five 1-1/2 lb, and ONE 3-1/2 lb. I got off the water at 6:00 pm TIRED. It just seems that lake should have more LMB....

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

I'm new, but from what I hear, bass fishing can be tricky at Canyon. I was out there the Friday before last from 10am-6pm and only caught 1 in the pirates leg area. I've personally found that catfish are tough to catch there...

Go elsewhere.....???
Right now, my choices are Dunlap(low water level) and Calaveras(has zero LMB).
Choke Canyon and Amistad will appear on my radar as soon as I finish working on the motorhome(roof job). I don't like going that far and not stay a couple or three days.
Perhaps now that the water is clearing up at Dunlap I might try it, but I'll have to take it slow 'cause I my GPS map doesn't depict the river channel on this lake.

Why go elsewhere? Went Saturday for about 4 hours, caught around 20 up to 3.5lbs, went the sunday before for 3 hours and caught around 25 up to 4lbs.
