Anytime I am fishing a creek or river and I hear a boat motor coming i start paddeling like a madman to the side. Some of those guys haul it up those creeks. A flag doesnt help if they're coming around a bend.

Nothing hardcore for me yet. My worst, so far, was a t-storm at Purtis Creek. Torrential rain, 30+ winds, white caps, and lighting within a few miles. I was in the middle of the lake and had to go into the wind to get to shore. My main concern was a big wave dropping me on top of a stump and dumping me. By the time I got to shore, the heavy stuff had passed.
like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

I got caught in a major lightning storm on the Chipola river in N. Fla. I have never seen or heard lightning pop so bright and loud. I can't remember ever being that scared before, in or out of a kayak!

March 10 Houston Ship Channel! 60 - 62 degree water, 1.5 miles out, very large ships on the move, fairly hard winds blowing out of the south, strong current going out, and waves got nasty! One of those situations where if you got rolled by a big wave you were gonna be totally screwed!!! Ill admit I had the pucker factor the whole peddle in!

Dang. I think the storms and the big ships would make me wet myself. I bet that hail hurt like hail right?

A HUGE snake starts swimming towards me, and I haul A.. to get out of his way. Of course a five inch snake was big at the time.
I also got caught in a 20+mph north wind trying to paddle back to my launch point. I had to walk through knee deep mud in the shallow water to make it back.

Norfolk River in Arkansas last October. All generators running, water temp 48 degrees. I hit a submerged limb which flipped my yak. The water was approximately 15 feet deep. I held on to my paddle which was leashed to the yak and did a deep water re-entry. When we got back to the cabin that night and I took off my hat I had a puncture wound in the top of my head. My hat and sunglasses never came off.

Ive been pretty good about staying out of situations...buuut i can be stupid #3 few weeks back i was night fishing drifting around, pulled up my drift sock and a 4-5' rattler came slithering out tried to land on my lap but i tossed it back out and it swam off into the darkness... #2 Storm went through that morning and passed...about 2 hours later im stalking the flats for reds clear blue sky couple clouds..beautiful day...struck by lightning...knocked me out for a few minutes im guessing my electronics were dead so no idea on time but i hung out a while re-hydrated and kept catching reds... but my scariest moment at the time it happened was going BTB on a stupid day for the first time... the reason is i cant swim (i free dive really well though) and the open ocean scares the hell out of me....
