Kingfish1023---I'm really not trying to be smart--but in your boat, you are welcome to fish our slips anytime. My point is not with depleting the fish--you can't do that with crappie. We just don't want strangers IN OUR SLIPS without permission. I just don't think that is being unreasonable. Years ago we tried it without any rules, and boy was that a disaster. Slips invaded--sometimes you couldn't even get to your own slip--arguments, thefts, etc., etc. Now the marina has rules, as above, but sometimes they still get broken, and marina security gets it handled. Again, one day last year, I went to the slip, and found six people inside our slip, their lunch and drinks spread out on our tables, the place was a mess--the trash cans were full--and they were even using our basket for their catch; all they had was a metal stringer. I'm even talking dirty diapers in our trash can! You may not agree, but I just feel so strong about this that I had to post some of the reasons behind the fairly strict rules. It didn't used to be that way. Wish it could still be one big happy family, but it just can't, and I'm sorry. That would tick me off!

Kingfish--for some reason, my last post didn't show up. We DO walk up and down the dock, but only fish the 14 slips where all 14 of us have written permission from each other. And, yes, it takes some organization and cooperation, but because it works, we have good and peaceful fishing. You would enjoy being a part of an arrangement like this.Everybody abides by the same rules, and we all catch fish---do a lot of sharing if somebody is having a fish fry. Enjoyed our civil conversation. You're a gentleman, and I'm really not a hypocrite.

GWH. in no way was i refering to you.you seem to be a very nice and reasonable person who i would be more than happy to share a slip with! I was refering to the huy at our place. its only one guy that i know of who is unhappy. hopefully it can be resolved. if not it will be time to find a new marina.
I hope you didnt think i was refering to you. i was not and do apologize.

Thanks Kingfish. I appreciate you. I almost hated to bring this subject up, but just about everybody who has commented has done so with courtesy. This kind of dialog is what makes this forum great--so thanks to everybody. I think this subject has been discussed. We all don't agree, but you all did it with class. THANKS!

Be the first one to shove the other in the water. You'll have plenty of time to make your escape while he's dragging his soaking hide back out.

Iv fished vine for years' an also had a slip in Scott's landing. After getting off it. I usually fish outside an dock shoot. I have been told by management that being in a slip free floating I'm still tresspassing cause it has a roof. Now open slips are ok. The maintenance man the runs the place is a real hard pain. When I was a member he always asked to see my gate card. I think his face has never smiled. IV called g wardden before to clarify everything an as long as your not tied an not under thier slip you are legal to fish public waters They own the slip an not the water. IV been run out cause a slip renter was jelous cause I pulled in a nailed them. I put brush in it nine years ago.

Big Mack I hope to meet you out there. You're the type of man we are used to fishing with. Let me know when you are going the next time and we can stick some white perch and talk about people.
