I use a kahle hook size 3/0 or 4/0, usually 3/0.

I usually use a 1/0 mustad ultra point croaker hook
for trout and flounder and for the reds the same hook but in a 2/0-3/0.Hope this helps.

Don't use live shrimp under popping cork. It will pop your shrimp away.

Sorry don`t know how long u been fishing  but live shrimp under a popping cork has been a very long practice,if ur losing ur shrimp u must be trying to jerk it outta the water or not hooked in the right place...only time I lose mine is throw to dam hard and not enough thumb pressure and get a back lash....or bait stealers get it .....just sayn

no live shrimp with popping cork. thats just not right.
go to google video...look at how to rig live shrimp with popping cork.
