I am thinking about trying Power Pro 10/2 high visibility braid for shooting docks. Can anyone give me the pros & cons of shooting docks with braid, I have used braid bass fishing before but never for Crappie, much less shooting docks. Any input would be appreciated.

Braid doesn't float like mono does. I don't think it would be a bad idea but I've never used braid for that application. I like suffix neon orange mono for everything. I think the stretch of mono would give you a little more flinging distance but i think a lot of that come from the rod.
it's the crapy days that make the good days that much better!!!

I wouldnt do it,. Not a dock shooting expert, but braid tangles too easy for all of the skipping, hopping, rolling, bouncing off pilings, ect. Its not as slick as mono is either, and would likely dig in to old wooden piling, rather than just slide on them.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Suffix Neon Orange in 6# is the perfect shooter line IMHO and I too believe that a 2# slab wrapped around an old wooden post with braid would be much more likely to escape due to the line digging into the post.

Braid floats more than any line. I shot a couple of docks last weekend with braid, just to see. It works but does tangle around your rod some. The short time I tried it I decided that braid is probably not the best line for shooting. I like 10lb Trilene XL. But you need to keep it fresh. You don't want to use a line that has coiled and twisted real bad.

Works well on spinning reels with larger spools, I use 4 lb test mostly. You wont have to retie or worry about getting sawed off near as much using braid. I use a bit heavier jig than normal

I prefer mono but let us know how you like it after you try it. I depend on the stretch of mono to soften my lightning like reflexes. Haha

I only use Mono on 1 Rod, My Dock Shooter. Have Braided on everything else. I only have 1 Spinning Reel, and it is on my Dock Shooter. Have a Bait Caster on everything else.
I don't like Mono or Spinning Reels, but they do seem to work best for the Dock Shooting application. Forgot my Dock Shooter the other day, and used my wife's closed face spinning reel. I'm thinking I'll buy one to go on my Dock Shooter. Really ticks me off to have the loops fall off the end of the bail when shooting dock. With the closed face, I didn't have one problem.
Just a little more info... or IMO

I've tried both, a lot, and mono is definately best for dock shooting for me.
Loose line is usually the result of overfilling your reel or not catching the line at the end of the cast with your finger. (Hard to describe but easy to do)
try both and you will see.

Well I tried it yesterday & I think I will have to stick with the Mono, Pros: Not as many break offs. Cons: Too many tangles & not as much distance. Thanks to all for the comments.
