I went yesterday not really knowing what to expect. I've been hearing mixed reports...most to the effect the fishing has been slow. I went prepared to try livebait, cutbait, and lures to see what might be biting whether it was stripers, bass, cats, or whatever. I even took 2 different mesh size castnets to cover large shad down to small minnows. My plan started off well, as I soon had several nice gizzard shad swimming happily along with some small perch. From there my plan quickly unraveled, but in a good way! Magnum size sandy's quickly depleted my supply of perch, however, they were fine with sassy shads until I just grew tired of catching them.

Next I tried the large gizzard shad, both live and cut. Only a small blue cat and a couple gar were interested. I was so sure I'd get on some big stripers. No such luck. I switched to casting a jig and fluke hoping for some bass. That turned out to be a good move. I caught a little smallmouth right away. Then cleaned up on the largemouth with one spotted bass and one crappie to round out the day. Here's pics of my best 3.

I didn't bother to weigh them. Here's another couple pics from yesterday. Yeah, I know...I got a long arm, LOL! Might be duplicates, I kinda lost track of my pictures. A nice problem to have, though.

Thanks for the compliments, fellas. B-Rod I was on the upper. Too much water going down the middle lately. Just the opposite on the upper. About as low as I've seen it.
