I used to fish Horseshoe Bend all the time with my Dad when I was growing up and we went back two years ago and hammered the Sandies. Last year when we could make the time the water was coming through real fast and high so we went down to the Nolan around Blum and hammered them there.

Just wondering if anybody on the forum has hit Horseshoe Bend lately and can give a report. My father and I only get a limited time frame to get out together and I'd like to get the most bang for our buck.

No matter how many we pull in, the time together will be worthwhile.

Thanks for any replies.

it's private property.

I fished up there yesterday and did not catch anything that far up. I talked to a couple of people who caught very few.

Well we made it out there today and pulled in 18 sandies between us. All males, but about half were pretty good size, and all were nice and fat. We also caught about that many that were under the size limit and got to go back to grow some more.

Both of us also pulled in 4 small LMB each (I think 3 of mine were actually the same fish, just caught three times from the same spot).

Spent seven hours to get those though. Once they really start running it'll pick way up.

Oh, and as far as it being private property, the main access from the road onto the beach isn't posted. Believe me I checked since it was been a couple years since I've been there and I don't want to get into any trouble. There is a gate and I once asked one of the residents about it and he said the community uses it to keep idiots from driving down to the beach and tearing it up. We never had any problems getting to the water and we've been numerious times when the river was full of people.

Anyway, give it another couple of days or a week and limits should be flying outta there.

I don't believe you that there's 11 feet deep water there. Every time I get up to the bend area it's sand at about 4 feet down.

Tin Top is hit and miss. I caught 28 good females full of eggs in December, two months ago. They were hiting a rapala shad rap green and cream, reeled fast to hit the bottom and stop. Since then ten or 12 has been the norm. Some anglers have gone up toward Horseshoe bend and filled the boat? I have fished Chavez creek and south toward the launch. Some days the water temp is 52 and others 42. On the colder days maribou jigs tied two at a time and using a spin casting set up to slow the presentation down has helped!

any recent reports on horseshoe bend? i went friday with brother, we fished beach area and waded up river 1/2 mile or so. i caught 2 small males, he caught 6 keepers, and 3 undersized. we tried minnows, under cork, free floated, and road runners in green/red, and red/white. we fished 8 hrs for these. is it too late, has run already passed? some guys in boats had same luck as us.
