It drives me crazy for people that don't know how to Tournament Unload and Load... You know, those people who pull up and block to ramp to undo their transom straps, take off the transom saver, unhook the boat from the front, get their gear out and then back into the water.... I think my record for unload or load is about 60 seconds. Get it all ready, pull down, back in, and pop off the boat. The DRIVER SHOULD KNOW WHAT HE/SHE IS DOING AND BE READY TO CRANK AND GO! Watch this just for fun; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Odytr3c0Ac

Thank you! Yes! When my dad and I unload he jumps in the boat and i back the boat and trailer. We can unload, i can park the car and lock it, and jump back into the boat all in about 80 seconds. You'd think the people would be ansty enough to get out there and fish as quickly as possible but i guess not.

What is the difference in "tournament unloading" and just regular unloading?

My Partner and I just call it "Tournament Unload/Load" meaning pop it off to unload or back in, drive the boat up on the trailer and he keeps the motor trimmed up with the motor running and pushes with the prop as I pull out. Then we do all the tie downs up on the parking lot in a parking spot... Hope that explains it.

Make sure you are trimmed up enough not to hang your skeg or f your prop up on the ramp as some are steeper than others

Was at a ramp once taking out after a tournament, there was a guy and his wife trying to put their ski boat back on the trailer. My partner backed the trailer in I slid up on it off we went, but I heard her tell her hubby, Why cant you do it like he did, all I could do is laugh.

I've seen guys load quickly like that (use the thrust of the engine to keep the boat on the trailer as the other person pulls the truck forward, but I don't feel safe doing that. It takes about 60 extra seconds for one or the other person to secure the winch. I'll gladly piss off a fellow fisherman for 60 seconds if it saves me a fiberglass repair.
I think a couple of minutes is reasonable. I don't mind people like that video that really don't know what they are doing. Its guys that blatantly disregard everyone else by leaving their lights on (blinding everyone else trying to back down in the dark) or guys that prep their boat/rods/tackle while blocking the ramp.

Ever thought about taking the time to go and offer (politely) assistance to someone on the ramp who might not know better???
Do the folks mentioned irritate me? Yes. But, I've been at tourneys where it wasn't a whole lot better on the ramp and was worse once in the water. If your boat 50, don't sit up front and block boats 1-40 from getting to the live-well check... Don't beach beside the ramp in the easiest place to pick up someone coming from parking the truck either- once you have your partner in the boat........get out of the way of the other guys loading and unloading.

It's obvious that guy was new to that rig and hadn't figured the easy way to get it done. He'll either figure it out or grow some Popeye arms. LOL

Never pull your boat out of the water without hooking it to the trailer..I don't care who you are, are how good you think you are at loading and unloading, boats will slide backwards.
