We are lots of 3-5lb fish - which is fun. However, we can't find the bigger females -- any advise for Monticello?

LOTS of 3-5lb fish!!! Count your blessings. Just kidding: after the spawn you can catch lots of fish on Monticello after everyone leaves for the cold water lake spawns. The bulk of the bigger fish though have moved out some. You have got to change your tactics from the late winter patterns. That being said, you will also find the ocassional pig still cruising the pad stems. Fish the creeks and channel bends and deeper 8-12' wooded flats. Also, if you dont already, start paying attention to the "cold water" side. Or be happy with "LOTS of 3-5lb fish"! Good Luck!

Fishing was great on Monti again today. My Dad and I caught about 30 -- most all fish were 3-4 pounds, with one 6 pounder from Pops. I wished we had it on video because we saw the fish swim by a couple times before he caught her. My Dad threw back out with a magnum fluke and that fish eased up behind the fluke, slowly opened her mouth, sucking that fluke in and eased off to the left. He never felt a thing, but watched it all happen, so a big hook set wasn't far behind

Another great memory - and another great day of fishing with Dad.
