I think the 3 stores I hit are usually in pretty good shape. Bryant Irvin, 377 and N. Tarrant Pkwy and S. Cherry Lane. However, when my list gets to $50, it's Tackle Warehouse time.

Same for the Forest Lane Dallas location... they don't even carry clear Stren any more, only the blue fluorescent junk!

Only in a perfect world can a store make every single one of its customers happy.

The Plano/75/Spring Creek is nothing like it used to be. They just updated the fishing section and it is not good.

My opinion. I have only been in that store 3 times this year. And I only go to check out fishing stuff. Used to go 3 times a week.

The one we have in San Angelo has a pretty good selection of baits. If you cant find something in there to catch a fish you may need to try another hobby.

There are 142 Academy's right now and when you are setting new planograms it takes a little bit of time to get all the stores on the same page and full of the new inventory that their planogram shows. The stores that looked bad are in the middle of this transition. It doesn't happen over night. The inventory varies per store. Not every single Academy is the exact same. For example, the Houston stores will have more saltwater baits than freshwater because Houston it is a predominantly saltwater market. The Katy store off Grand Parkway has the grandebass products if anybody in Houston are looking for them. I understand it causes anger to a customer when they come in and see an unorganized fishing section. The field and stream division of Academy drives the majority of the sales for the entire company. Academy is not going to thin out these sections because that would cause them to take a giant hit. Academy did get bought by KKR a private equity firm a year ago but they have done very little to change the management style.

Do they not care about how many people get mad about the length of time it takes to basically restock? In the mean time they're ordering from everyone else on the internet with no real reason to even go back to an Academy. Who wants to keep going to a store that never has anything in stock? Just a waste of gas and time. The store in Longview is horrible and has been for years.

Bwhatley is right, Longview Academy sux out loud.

College Station Academy has cut back on fishing tackle also. I'm not sure why but I couldn"t find 2 of the 4 items I was looking for.

I pray often that an Academy will open up out here in San Diego. I think it's the greatest outdoor/sports store in creation. I shop at the one in Round Rock, Abilene, and south Austin and have been to all three within the last 3 months and all were STOCKED to the tilt with fishing gear. I even picked up clearance Berkley Hollow Belly swimbaita regularly 9.98 for 1.99 and stuck a 7.9 pig out here! Academy rocks and I LOVE the store!
