My wife is going to buy me a rod and reel combo for our anniversary. She told me she will not pay no more than $75 for it due to we are going close on our house the 18th of April and were trying to be careful on our spendings. What combo do you think would be best for the buck? Last year I bought a Cabelas Gold Label and it was horrible. Any advise would help and thanks for any replies!!!

You could probably get a pretty good spinning reel combo for that price. I like Mitchell or Abu Garcia for a spinning reel. Academy may still be having their rod riot. You might be able to find a good rod for it and still be within your price range.
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

you could get just a rod or just a reel also. better off just getting one and it being a good one instead of a cheap combo that you wont be happy with.. ive got a bunch of reels off of cheap combos that sounded good but now just lay around the house.. the spinning rod idea is good too. i bought a abu garcia spinning combo at academy a while back on sale for for like 40 bucks...

As far as reels, you could get a Shimano Sedona for 60$, which is a very nice reel! As far as rods, I have found that Quatum makes a pretty decent rod for the buck.
Hope this helps!

Academy has a 6'6 pinnacle combo for about that price, 9 bearing baitcast, I bought one on sale for $45 and it has been great. If you have a rod already and want to upgrade your reel, check out the mettle they have for about $50, and use the rest on lures..oh so many colorful lures...

spinning...there are Pflueger Presidents for sale for $40 in the trading post. That will get you started on a good spinning set up. Then just save up a few more bucks and get a good spinning rod. $40 for the President is a good deal on a good reel.

If they still have the h2o mettle on a castaway rod, at academy. Combo riot is on, so they are $50.
