Got a last minute trip with Striper Express today, John from Florida was staying at Tanglewood and needed a second for a trip. Chris was already full so we had the pleasure of fishing with Jimmy. Headed out from Mill Creek at 7:30 North to some flats. Several boats were already there. Didn't take long for the fun to begin. John hooked a nice one. We were tossing large sassy shallow. We got our overs and then they were gone. Had one on top water but got off before I could get it in the boat. Drifted there for a while hoping the big ones would fire off again but they didn't. Caught many smaller fish. Then that is about all we could get was small ones with an ocassional good box fish. Ended the day with a nice mess of fish.

Are the fish going after shad yet or are they still strickly on lures still?
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I think they are doing well on both. They are definately chaising shad, saw several fly out of the water being chased by big stripes. Fish were full of shad about 4-5 in. Some had as many as 4 undigested shad in them and still ate our lures. I am real happy to see these fish in such good shape, full bellies, thick and very scrappy. If you need a lure guide give Striper Express a call. http://www.striperexpress.com/

Not lately, didn't think anyone remembered the sand bass pool experiment. I did learn a little about thier behavior but the family was a little miffed at the idea of swimming with fish.

Sounds like a satisfying trip Steve. Chris was too busy to mess with me also ( or maybe he remembered how many Pencil Poppers I lost in the boulders last time he took me out...) Anyway, four of us noobies went out with Jimmy on March 7, just ahead of an incoming front. Blowy, wet, choppy water, and the stripers 30-40 feet down. Jimmy took us all over the lake, subjected us to baaad and really old jokes while each of us caught BIG FISH (remember now - we're noobs). Seriously though, the smallest fish was about seven pounds, and, they ranged on up to eleven. Here is my wife showing off: [img:center] [/img] And my buddy Doug: So for the last two hours of the trip Jimmy's looking hangdog. Finally he apologizes,"I'm sorry, there just aren't any small fish." I didn't know what to say. Like I give a **** about the SMALL fish! Three weeks later and I still don't know if he was serious or not.
