August, there is a camp ground on Canyon lake that has sites on the water. I have wanted to go try my luck there for a while, but have yet to do so. I have heard there are some nice commons in there...

if you have a rv you can stay at the rv park there. but there is no tents allowed, and there is signs saying no camping or tents.

As long as the rain chances stay as low as they are now Im thinking we will be camping this weekend. Was going to hit stillhouse, but they are still in a burn ban, so thats a no go. Looks like first family trip of the year will be local to Travis, Prolly Arkansas bend or turkey bend.

I am wondering if now that we are a little more experienced building a swim, if we can manage to bring the bigger fish in to chase off the small ones after a day or two.

I agree with Richy. Canyon is a good lake. I have caught some high tenners there. That would be a great place to try.

Like Joe, I'd like to know where there are decent spots in Arkansas. Have fished Ouachita Lake once, but didn't produce. My mom lives between Mena and Hot Springs, near Lake Ouachita, and when I drive through the area can't believe no one fishes for carp there. Are there any places you'd recommend?
Neil put on a CAG function at Lake Hamilton once. Fish weren't big at the time, but I believe the 53# state record came from that lake (although I think it was with a bow).
