I have been told by one mechanic that I should live by the stuff. Just got told by another mechanic that that is the worst thing to put into your boat. Said the dye leaves a film and clogs the carbs.
Whats your thoughts?

you need to put some type of additive to help with e-10 and soon to be e-15. I have used sta-bil but I really like this http://mystarbrite.com/startron/

This is my 2 cents. It is a combination of too many additives that boaters use that has caused some problems. The results is you can't really tell what caused the problem. On the older motors and fuel systems use the blue Sta-Bil. The newer motors are built to handle todays fuel. The most important additive for them is Ring Free.

It cost me 15K(new motor)for NOT using it. Yes you can use too many additives but you should use sta-bil. The mechanics also told me to use it on my new motor. The most important thing is to not fill your tanks much beyond your current need, gas with ethanol sitting in the tank for a month = distaster.

I have it in everything I own, lawn mowers, golf cart, boats, weed eaters, etc.I can really tell the difference.Just make sure to get the right one.One (red) is for 4 strokes, and the green one is for 2 strokes.

I use Sta-Bil green for my 2 stroke and also use SeaFoam. The Sta-bil works wonders with the ethanol in todays' fuel and the SeaFoam helps keep the engine clean and fuel burning good. My motor is a 1988 year and it purrs like a sewing machine and starts easily every time. ALWAYS use Sta-bil and SeaFoam in my book.

With that, a mechanic told me to keep the gas tank full so air and moisture will not sit in. the air gap will cause the newer type gases to draw in moisture. Said to fill it everytime when you leave your destination.

Call Sandy Creek and ask the mechanic. Ethanol causes seperation of the water in the fuel from the pump. Before ethanol it was the rule to keep your tanks full to fight condesation buildup after sitting for long periods of time.

The problem here is a lack of hard facts. Everything is just anecdotal. One person says this and another says that.

i am living proof without it your carbs will get clogged... i used to have to break down my carb every year at the beginning of the year from gunk buildup... after using it no problems.. *knocks on wood*
