First trip out to zoo swim since the outrageous blazing summer we had last year. Several fish were caught including this lovely 14lb common that flat wore me out on my light rod. What are they feeding these things anyways?

PB - Common carp 18lb
PB - Buffalo 15lb
PB - Drum 12lb
PB - Bass 9.6lb
PB - Crappie 2.5lb
Channel- 8 lb
Pollywog - 1,234,654

Kids are the future of our sport! Carp on!

They feed em floating fish food like crazy off the dock at the zoo. Every kid that walks past squeezes a quarter outta mom and pop for a hand full of feed outta that converted gum ball machine. If you really want to get the blood flowing take the kids to the zoo and give it a try sometime, you will be amazed at the size of some of em. What bait? In reply to your other post I'm local and fish for anything that pulls drag, and carp fall in that category.

And there used to be decent Cats/Bass in there too. Just glad there has been enough water to retain some of the fish.

Hey Blues glad to hear from a local! As for bait I make a dough out of Koi food, Wheaties,Flour, corn meal, dog food, sugar and salt. Pack it tight and fish it on a hair rig. Dash of flavoring extract. Actually at Nelson a rolled up chunk of white bread works just as well.

Lots of small channel cats that will drive you crazy at times.
Guy next to me a couple of summers ago hooked a Flathead in the 30-40lb range but it escaped despite both of us wrestling it up on the bank.

Never looked at the pier carp but surely there has to be a few doubles in there, wouldn't you think? Best I have done is 17lb.

I only fished them there once. Throw bread on the water till you find a carp who is eating then follow it up with another piece of bread with a hook in it. Lots of really big carp in the very back lake.
