Hendo,

I was just up there on 10-12 August and the only action I could muster was in the early evenings (7:30-9:00 PM) stripers would go crazy on the surface near the dam area. I would just troll around and wait for the boiling water and head in that direction and keep casting topwater. I usually hit on about 5 or 6 a night in the 1-3 lb range.

Camping is great there, but the fishing is limited IMHO.

hey thanks!!! I am taking my daughter up there to camp/swim/boatride with a couple of friends, but daddy wants to fish a little too wink

I will definely hit the damn area before dark!!!

just curious...what kind of topwater lure did you use? like a chugger?

Sorry, I don't log on too often.

I was using an .5 oz electric blue Rat-L-Trap (not really top water, I guess) and a Rapala Skitter Pop.

When they are active on the surface like that, just about anything might do. The key is to cast as quick and frequent as possible.

BTW be careful of the rock hazards (marked with bouys) in the area.

here's the largest one...largest striper I have ever caught and caught it on light tackle using a topwater plug banana
