Stupid question--tag end clipping

How short do you usually cut your tag ends off? As short as possible? 3-4mm? 2 C-hairs? I usually leave a few mm just in case I haven't cinched the knot down as much as possible and feel like I give myself some safety error room. In the case of soft plastics, the bait usually covers the knot anyway so its a moot point.
Not sure if it really even matters. Just curious.

ive always cut mine just shy of 1/8in. always done it that way and ever had problem with any knot!

i leave about 1/2 in. you will pick up less fine algae ,and other moss..the fish don't care if its there ..

I leave a longer tag with braid because it will slip as it finches down With mono or fluoro Id say 1/8" at most
