That's because they know the crappie spawn is about to start- Nest raiders.

When the carp move into the shallows does that mean that the crappie are moving in for the sspawn or are thet raiding the nesting spots

You are Correct Hefishes2. Some males had moved shallow in a few spots to prepare the nest. Then came the cold rain and they pulled back. Now when the water temp/muddyness gets right they will come back. Males first to finnish getting the nest ready reguardless of carp, gar, trolls, unicorns, Leprechauns, rainbow to pot of gold ratios, etc etc. I am going to try and hit a few spots thursday afternoon. Afternoons are the best time earl on IMO because the water is at it's warmest especially near rocky areas where I fish. I have been just trying to point out to some the spawn is not almost over on any of the DFW area lakes. That is all.

If your waiting for them to start spawning again after the rain, you are missing out. They are spawning somewhere on all the lakes right now. Just have to get out from in front of the computer and find them. thumb

What's the big deal?
Are you afraid the crappie might hear these comments and go ahead and finish up quicker?

No. They need to really get started before they can "finish up", or did you miss the entire point?
