Am I the only one who got my rearend handed to me this weekend?
Only 2 keepers and one shorty in about 30 minutes, spent the other 7 1/2 hrs burning gas and getting a sunburn. All 3 came off the same tree in 12' 65 water. Fished from 1' to 18' and found water from 63 to 68.

Ruh Roh...I'm going to RR in the morning. I'm headed to the creeks. Well, guess we'll see.

We got kicked in the teeth also. A few small males, 3 or 4 whites. Everything in 6-8 ft. Water temperature late Saturday was good but no shallow fish. Maybe next time.

we got 24 fish shallow mostly males with a few good kicker females thrown in. carp and gar are about to take over. some surface temps up north on lake 76.6 sunday evening. take a week or two for carp and gar to move out and then it should be on again.

I put in some serious work in on RR Sunday with 21 keepers. 3 of them were barn doors. All in 4-8ft deep from 8:30pm - 12:30am.

Someone told me the Spawn on RR was over and if there was sarcasm I missed it, LOL. Something about a tree that blossomed so it's over. I guess 4 inches of cold rain had no affect on delaying the spawn even though it has been warm. People lose their mind in the Spring trying to will the fish into spawning. If they only catch 3 or 4 it must be over in March. Try fishing around some rocks late in the afternoon. That is when the water is the warmest for the day and the rocks retain and give off more heat. That is a good early pattern for me. May still be a touch too early for steady shallow fish.

You were not alone, the boy and I went doodle socking in the newly flooded Johnson grass and brush and caught nothing but bass all day. Tons of gar up shallow.

Spawners til the middle of May? You mean like every year from the start of April til the middle of May reguardless of carp? Blue Gill will not spawn in May/June this year I heard the bass will be shallow then trying to eat them so they will pull back until the bass have moved out to deeper water and will probaly spawn from May until the middle of August. Could be an old wives tale but who knows? Cheese on a cracker.

not all will spawn at the same time. conditions may vary. on ray roberts we have caught crappie in the creeks in less than 2 feet of water on memorial day weekend. so yes some still up there. fish will come back in when carp and gar move back out and it should be on. the carp and gar are about a month ahead of when they usually come up shallow
