I've got a 19 foot center console and my truck does just fine. Thinking about getting a pontoon project boat and towing a maximum of 60 miles. What do you think is the largest pontoon boat I should look at if I'm towing with a 1/2 ton truck?

It really depends on the exact model of truck you have. Some only tow 4800#s and some tow 12,000#s. Pontoons are not very heavy but the make alot of wind resistance. I pulled a 22 footer into a head wind last summer on a day that it was about 106 degrees and my truck was getting hot at speeds over 55mph.

A friend of mine regularly pulls his 24 footer from Midland to Ivie, 150 miles or so, with a F-150. He tows at 65-70 mph. No problems.

I dont think you will have a problem. Towed a 20' toon with my old chevy no problems and it was 16 years old with 250K pluss miles. Wind will be your biggest issue, and wind resistance on a 16' toon is about the same as on a 24' toon.

agree with everyone else. I pull a 22' where ever I'm go fishing. The wind resistance is the biggest issue you will probably see/feel.
I've never driven with an open parachute behind me, but I expect pulling a toon is about the same.
