So my SHO has been smoking, and just heard from the dealer my oil filter is loaded with metal shavings so they are thinking its gonna be new powerhead since the rings are apparently toast. My question, do the new ones come completely dressed ?? Just curious. Mine has been running awesome but the early making oil issue may have tanked it.

should be a complete power head. they pull yours and install new one. and hook up electronics, cables, etc. and your back to the break in procedure.
sorry to hear about your motor.

My HPDI blew and they only replaced the powerhead. The computer and all accesories are original. This was all under warranty. There were actually some things I had to pay for, it was like $750. Of course that dealer went out of business and came back with a different line up. I may have gotten screwed, so be prepared just in case.

Normal maintenance items are not covered. oil, sparkplugs and filters.

Mine made me change the water pump, all filters, plugs, dumped my full oil tank out and put in new oil, plus whatever else I can't remember. I was severly p!ssed off. I took a day off of work and drove all the way to Beaumont to argue with the idiots. I still paid though.

Well I went to get my boat today, my motor was still running and while they hash out the details on the new powerhead the dealership told the rep I was gonna use it and they said tell him to go ahead. Well I officially locked it up today so now there is no question about getting a new powerhead lol. BTW they changed the oil, filter, and spark plugs free of charge. Guess its a dealer issue, but The Boat Center at Lake Palestine has been great!

When my HPDI blew, fun n sun didn't charge me for any extras when i picked it up. Now plano marine charged me all kinds of extras when the tuner was replaced under warranty.

They will not change the hours meter. That's hours on the entire engine, not the power head. If you put a new motor in a car, is it legal to set the odometer back to -0-?
As for the other items, I dunno.

As for the other items, I dunno. I was told by the yamaha rep different, the hours start over since its essentially a new engine, but the warranty does not, guess we will see soon enough the truth lol.
