And it begins. I was at Ray Hubbard Sunday at Chandlers. As I was pulling the boat out a big ski boat was backing in. I pulled my boat around in front of the marina and there is a little down grade hill that slopes towards the water. As I'm wiping my boat down this same ski boat pulls next to me. As I'm wiping the boat down a guy maybe 20yrs old starts to unhook the boat from the truck. I'm thinking "I'm hoping he chalked the tires". I walk behind MY BOAT to look and nope, no chalk. I start to say "NO" and it was to late. That boat started to roll down hill and headed towards a roll of cars. I get on the front of the trailer with this guy and we're trying to stop it. A couple of other guys(bass fishermen) run over and get behind the boat and we stopped it about 2' from totaling these cars. As were holding the boat I yell at him to get the chalks out of the back of my pickup. He finds some rocks next to the boat and chalks his boat. Me and the other two guys just look at each other then we look at him and told him to always chalk your tires. I cleaned my boat went home and took pain killers for my back....
Thanks,
The weak call it obsession, the strong call it dedication! Jigfish

Lol it happens. You start to get in a hurry and that's when accidents or problems occur
Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

Good for you I bet that you taught him a lesson that he won't forget and it didn't have to be the hard way.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

I almost saw 2 fist fights Saturday at the local ramp. One was a ski boat backing in and a guy just kept backing up to front of his truck. The other was guy cut someone off waiting to launch his boat. I had my phone ready to video it. Lol

The ramp at Highport Marina on Texoma at 3:00 yesterday afternoon looked like a Three Stooges episode. Bass boats are trying to load up from BLT and we have a guy in a pleasure boat taking 20 minutes to make sure his boat is on the trailer "just so", another guy trying to load a pontoon boat by himself that I'm not sure he knew how his boat went on the trailer. Another guy in about a 40 foot cigarette boat waiting to launch has to get jumper cables out on the ramp to start the beast. Meanwhile in the middle lane, 5-6 bass boats loaded up and left...

Not sure but I think you mean "chocked" -- to use chocks to keep something from moving. We use chocks on airplanes.

It's only going to get worse, the season for "Goof-Balls" is here! They should make a t-v show, "America's Craziest Video's at the Ramp"!

Never seen anyone unhook their trailer on a graded hill and expect it not to move... actually I have never seen anyone unhook the trailer from their vehicle at the lake at a boat ramp at all...

Yeah, he was launching, you were loading, and he pulls up next to you to unhook his boat/trailer? Did I miss something? Lol...and Tom,bass fisherman are the epitome of efficiency on the ramp..hence our cockiness watching pontoons and such struggle trying to launch/load.

Speaking of goof balls. It seems like I am the guy that always gets in behind the guy that leaves his lights on bright and backs in at an angle on a two lane ramp. This has happened the last two or three tournaments while unloading in the am.

Tom, You missed it after that cigarette boat finally got off the trailer and was backing up, I think forgot he was in reverse and dang near backed over one of the BLT anglers in a skeeter coming out. By the time he realized it or the guy blew his horn it was too close, the cigarette boat slammed it in forward with both out drives trimmed up and about swamped the guy in the skeeter. I think its that time of season already!!

Why was he unhooking his boat at/near the launch in the first place?? Don't you only do that when putting away the boat for the day wherever you store it? lol.
