I buy most of my reels used online off forums (here, bbc and tackletour mostly); very few things ever go wrong with a reel that are actually supposed to be covered by their 1 year warranty anyway.
Rods, I buy some from local stores because some stuff you can't find locally comes from online stores, and some stuff I trade for.
almost all my lures come from local stores.
