Have you ever dropped the fishing rod initiatively in order to really catch the fish after the very big fish was hooked?

I think dropping the fishing rod is the final resort of fighting against a hooked big fish. It's very exciting

I have caught a 71/2 While throwing a spook the fish hit and set the hook the reel broke off and flew up. Grabbed the line and hand lined her to the boat. It's not that easy with one that size.
