I dnt think he was landing a fish. He was guiding the other angler though i think it is pretty weak in a tourny. It was a club tourny to likely to not have good rules. Mne has n dead fish penalty and you can use multi rods. Translates into several guys with two rods rigged with c rigs drifting like white perch fisherman.

if you were in a bass tournament bed fishing and your partner got out of the boat and on the bank were he could see the bass and to guide you were to throw your bait because you can not get close enough to see the fish would this be cheating I was made aware a couple hours ago of what happened. If it's true, and im not sure if it is since I was not there to see it go down. From the sounds of it, it really did happen from who told me. I think it is a chicken chit move and proves that they needed every advantage to catch a fish that they couldn't get their boat to. The rules do not state anywhere that an angler can not leave the boat to help see a fish or aid his partner in catching it. Just that an angler can not leave his boat to land a fish. He didn't land it, his partner did who was in the boat. Also says " No ladders, platforms,or standing on seats and/or motors shall be allowed for the purpose of fishing or locating bedding fish". would a Dock be considered a platform? A ladder? If you can't stand on anything above the deck of the boat, odviously you can't stand on a dock to help see a fish. Plain and simple its a chicken chit move and really doesn't surprise me on who did it.

Seems to me if you have to ask then you pretty much know the answer. I would think it is cheating. Your fishing as a team and you are not allowed to leave the boat. nuff said.---Smitty

Im not condoning this kind of behavior but I guess it really boils down to what the rules in that particular event state.

The best way to find out if it's cheating is to protest it at the tournament.

Illegal, unethical, desperate....and anything else you want to call it, should have been an automaticd DQ for the team

Absolutely! As an angler you would have to know it's wrong even if you can find a loop hole in the rules that would make you think it wasn't wrong. To me that's grounds for a DQ wihtout question.

Is this the deal at Texoma?, heard about it last night this same guy in question continues to stretch, bend and out right break the rules with no impunity. I guess he'll get so brave as to feed his Bass a one pound weight to get that check.
c'mon TD's where there is smoke there is at some point fire.

Hey guys I will post this one statement on here not going to get drawn in to all the drama [censored]. So here it is. I was made aware last year in certain tournaments some guys were getting out of the boat and walking the bank looking for fish because in some tournaments it is not against the rules to get out of the boat, as long as your not fishing or landing a fish. A tournament director told me 2 years ago that someone saw Two Guys walking the bank and was trying to protest them but the Tournament director told me because they were not fishing or landing a fish it was not against the rules. Now up until I was told this I always assumed it was against the rules to get out of a boat durring the tournament unless you had to get your lure un hung or go to the restroom. But I had not read the rules about getting out of the boat I in every tournament, I had just assumed you couldn't. Until this conversation with a Tournament Director. Now alot of guys like to throw the word cheating around. It is not against the rules to do this in certain tournaments. Saturday durring the Future Bass tournament at 12:30 I decided to go look for some bed fish. I I stepped out of my boat in front of several other anglers sure not trying to hide it since I knew other people had been doing it and there wasn't anything wrong with it. I walked a bank about 100 yards had my partner pick me up at the end of a dock got back in the boat, and started fishing. At one point I had found a fish behind a dock that was blocked and you could not get a boat in behind it. The fish was I'd say a good 40 yards from my boat. My partner got out of the boat gave me a line to cast at and we spent maybe 5 mins trying to catch that fish but realized there wasn't anyway we were going to get it and gave up. In reality we only had 1 of our 5 fish that we weighed that day that was on a bed. There wasn't any cheating going on. People who cheat would try to hide what they are doing, getting out of your boat in front of 5 other teams that are fishing the tournament is not trying to hide anything. I would suggest taking the time to read the rules, or ask the tournament director about a rule if your in question about it. Like I said earlier in the post,up until 2 years ago when I heard about a team trying to protest for walking the banks I always assumed it was against all tournament rules but it's not.
