Different people are looking for different things.
Also a lot of carpers are tarty tarts and like their rods, reels, alarms, etc, to be in sets.
Gift certificates get arounds this. You might be able to get a deal from one of the retailers.

I would need to know that facts like:

How many tickets will need to be sold ?

In the even that not enough tickets are sold will the prize still be awarded?

Can changes to the raffle be made anytime during or after the contest?

What is in writing and who is legally responsible should there be issues?

I strongly encourages donors to bypass the flashy raffles and donate directly to a charity. Not only does the charity realize greater benefits, donors do as well because their donations are not covering expensive raffle promotion and prize giving. (It's a legal nightmare should anyone file a lawsuit).

Recently charitywatch.org reported on a raffle fraud where the owner was sued for $1.6 Million, forced to pay restitution and was given a lengthy prison sentence.

Sorry didn't catch that it was not a prize to be awared to the buyer of the ticket, rather the money from the ticket sales would go to buy prizes for the kids participating in the event.

Just a suggestion: Contact Big Carp Tackle, West Side Bait and Tackle, Wacker Bait and Tackle, Jedrex, New World Carp, Bank Fishing Systems..... and request a prize donation upon sending them information about your event. Maybe try to work it (personally) in with those running current local carp clubs, fish-ins and national events. Promoting carp fishing and involving kids would likely interest them if they can find the time.

Hope this helps

The title "What would you buy a raffle ticket for?" made me think the same thing Bream.

If that is the case have multiple low cost items, and also accept donated items to be raffled.

So it's not just me in misunderstanding the statement and thinking we were receiving a prize like nearly all raffles I've ever been a part of.

I hope basswax takes me seriously with the information I offered him. That's how I would plan, though these days I'm afraid to be involved with kids (damn shame Lawyers, State Agencies and sick SOBs have ruined things for kids).

I think I would like to go to this event and see it for myself. If it goes well I would personally chase down prizes and funding and do all I can in the background for the next event.

I wouldn't do it for you arguing, self-promoting, egomanical(is that even a word), CARP FREAK ADULTS!, but I would do it for the kids. sarcastic
