Took the pontoon down to PK dam today. Put in at about 10:30ish. Had my new trolling motor wired up and we were off. The carp were VERY active eating all sorts of stuff on top but not my fly. Went down into the first bend and caught this chunk who put up a good fight and put a healthy bend in the 8/10 minimag.

After CPR i headed further down. Made my way into the first long straight away past Garland bend and beat the rocks on river left until I hooked up with this guy. A first for me. He ran like hell and finally came in for a CPR session.

Both were caught on the calcassieu pigboat I tied and posted. It was a good day. Gar were very active as well, but kept spooking them before I'd see them.

Novelty cattle!! Cliff Claven factoid: The Texas Longhorn almost went extinct as a breed in the early part of the 20th century. That's a very nice picture.

Also, that Pigboat looks surprised. Maybe the predatory fish like to think they've shocked and awed their prey. I like it.

What did you build up the head with?

TXRR-interesting factoid. Built the head up with lots of thread over the rubber and the loan hard head.

Gib-thanks

scooter-thickest slime I have ever felt from a fish. Unzipped my pant bottoms and threw them in the back of the truck, then in the washer without telling the wife.

Woolly-It was a beautiful day. It would have been nice to have you out the
photo-oping my catches for some "hero" shots.

How about some pictures of the toon? I have a Classic Accessories Colorado and am looking for some ideas to add too or take away.

I should have. Don't have any of it rigged up as yet. Will do it next time. Mine is an Outcast fishcat 10-IR.

Cool, I installed a base plate and swivel seat. raised it up about 4 inches and swivels. Havn't taken out since I did it so not sure if the swivel will hinder the use of oars until I get me a trolling motor and battery. Other than that mine is stock. already has two anchor pully system. and one rod hoder that works with my fly rod. just need to rig sometype FF and maybe a net holder or something like that.

I have realized that the use of the trolling motor keeps me from being able to flip up and down the casting lean bar on mine. This last time I left it in the down out of the way position and just counted on my fleet of foot"ness" to keep me out of the drink. Also the slide under casting deck platform submerges when I kick the trolling motor up to 5. I don't plan on a fish finder. The way I see it is if I find a fish on a fishfinder then he's already under me and at that point I would be trolling or jigging on the fly.
