On Friday, May 18, 2001, Lake LBJ at Granite Shoals/Kingsland, TX. received 200,000 pure Florida strain fingerlings.
This is the first restocking since 1976 primarily due to a lack of concern by Phil Durocher, Inland Fisheries Dept. at
TPW&D. All of his excuses were finally overcome, allowing Lake LBJ to once again become the great bass fishery it was before
being raped in the early '60s when all shorline trees were cut and removed and the fish habitat (grass, coontail and hycinths) poisoned to make the lake "boater friendly".
