Ok so I know Hummingbird has come out with this thang. My question is does Lowrance have an answer to this at all? Will there be an easy upgrade, chip and transducer, or will they put this on the GEN 3, if there is one? Looks like Hummingbird hit the money on this. What do you guys think?

Well since you asked for anyones opinion... I think it's stupid. $2,000 for a 3' pole? But I suppose if I was rich and money didn't matter then I guess I'd get one, or not. Maybe once they figure out how to use the whole screen it'll make more sense to me, or not. What do you find so great about it?

If you were on table rock or Kentucky lake fishing deep rockpiles or dropoffs you could be sitting on your waypoint and know exactly where to cast to hit your target. Sideimaging would do you no good because you were not moving and down imaging wouldn't help unless you were on top of it. When they put it on the bottom of the boat instead of on a pole I'll be more interested.

When they can shoot it through the hull, I will be interested. Just don't think that will ever happen. I would like to see Lowrance come out with a 340 degree to mount on the trolling motor like any other puck. The only blank spot would be the 20 percent that the boat is taking up.

Actually all they would have to do would be to get it just below the TM blades and that would work for a full 360 view, just making sure the big motor was trimmed up.

360 scan will change everything. Even more than side scan. With side scan you still had to evaluate which direction from the boat the object was while you are floating around. Now you can tell it is right off the front right corner of the boat. You can see schools of fish swim in and out of an area. You can see how they react boat presence, or hydrowave or fishing pressure. It's dangerous in the wrong hands....... Like mine.

If it works like that then I just might have to join the crowd that says it just doesn't seem like a sport anymore.

It is obviously a good concept but with how its being offered now is not practical even if you have mo money than sense. The 360 view is about as close as you can get to seeing real time under water.

The decending pole is not practical for fishing in trees or shallow water ect for obvious reasons.

Getting back to the concept, its a great concept and a great tool. I use the Lowrance sidescan and it is also a great tool and the detail is unreal.

i know a lot of folks talked a ton of [censored] about the side imaging when it first came out and now their story and comments have changed in favor.

360 is a good thing if it becomes practical for the Bass fisherman and priced right.
